Help with pre wired contact sensors.
I bought a house a couple years ago and it came with pre-wired contact sensors for all first floor doors and windows and the front windows on the second floor. The widow sensors look like this and the door sensors are recessed. There are 14 window sensors and 2 door sensors, wiring for motion sensor and a spot next to the garage for a control panel. The wires are bundled together at an access point in the closet and look like this. I’m trying to hook up the sensors to a wireless dry contact.
I tried connecting all the white wires to a dry contact and tested each sensor with a magnet. I only got two to register. I haven’t tested the red wires that have 4 wires inside. And I think the green bundle is Ethernet?
I tried shorting one of the sensors but no luck there, at least for that particular one.
Any advice on how I can see if it’s the sensor or the wiring that’s bad?
