Appointments and Departures in Freight and Logistics Start with Death of Shipping Magnate

GREECE – A sad start to our weekly roundup of staff changes in the freight and logistics sector with the death of Greek ship owner, civil engineer, and media mogul Aristides Alafouzos, who has died at the age of 93. In 1964, Alafouzos pursued a career in the shipping industry, eventually creating a sizable fleet of tramp ships and bulk carriers. In the early 1970s he founded Glafki Maritime, then over a decade later founded Kyklades Maritime. Sons Giannis and Themistocles Alafouzos head the family’s shipping and media interests, respectively.
