So, after all the hard work, countless late-night sessions, and dozens of inanimate objects kicked out of frustration, you’ve finally made it. The email you’ve been waiting around for days has arrived in your inbox, and it says that you’re now eLearnSecurity-certified!
“What’s next?” you ask. Well, if you’re like us, next is showing it off to your friends, of course! Earning that certification was no easy feat – you’re definitely entitled to those bragging rights. So go on, tweet it out, post it on Facebook.. we’ll wait (though we wouldn’t mind getting a shout-out, while you’re at it).
Now, on to more serious business. You took the time to go through all those training materials, virtual lab scenarios, and the certification exam for a reason, and more than likely, that reason is to advance your career in IT security. So, what better way is there to get your newly-acquired skills recognized than by letting your professional network know about it.
If you’ve been in the workforce these past few years, then you’re probably maintaining a LinkedIn profile. It is, after all, the largest professional social network out there – and merely having an account here makes way for a slew of new opportunities. This is why we wanted to make it easier for you to tap into this network’s full potential.
If you’ve recently been eLS-certified, you might have noticed a little blue button in one of the emails we sent you.
This button will bring you to your LinkedIn page, where it will give you the option to add your new certification credentials to your profile.
You can simply click ‘Save’ and have it instantly appear in the Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile. A better way, however, is to edit and fill out the remaining empty fields with your complete certification details.
Adding your License (Certification ID) and the date you received it makes it easier to verify that your cert is legit and that you’re the real deal. After that, just go ahead and click ‘Save’ to find your brand new certification waiting for you!
Why bother with certifications?
LinkedIn states that, on average, users with relevant certifications get 6 times more views to their profile. Not only that, adding your professional certifications to your LinkedIn profile allows you to get recognized by prospective employers. In the case of eLearnSecurity certifications, it’s proof of the holder’s practical knowledge and hands-on skills in a broad range of knowledge domains – from penetration testing to secure web development.
This kind of recognition opens up doors to new jobs, or perhaps even a new career.
And, on the off-chance that an employer who comes across your profile isn’t familiar with your certification, they can simply click the eLS logo and be directed to the eLearnSecurity website where they can learn more about what it took to earn it.
Email got lost in the mailbox?
If you can’t find the email with the LinkedIn button, or if you passed your exam before July 2016, and haven’t gotten to adding your certifications since, you can still quickly add them to your profile. All you have to do is click the logo of the certificate you have below:
We hope these buttons were helpful for you. Make sure to let us know which eLS certifications you’re currently rocking in your profile. Watch out for even more certifications from eLearnSecurity soon!
