On the Subject of SSH

Not sure if this should be here or on r/linux but advise which and I’ll act accordingly.

So I’ve been dabbling with some introductory lessons in Cyber Security (I’m a Cyber Security major and am getting a leg up with Tryhackme and the CompTIA A+ Exam, aspiring to be a Red Hat) and I’m practicing using Kali rn and am covering the basics of SSH and I’ve had a thought:

A friend of mine is also fairly interested in Linux and I was wondering, if we were to set up a Linux machine with a static IP, could we constantly SSH into it when needed and have our own makeshift Linux server of sorts for file storing and conversation?

Is there an easier option that I’m missing? (Trying to not use standard messaging apps like Discord or anything.)

Thank you for any and all responses, I’ll try to respond to as much as I can.

Have a lovely day!

Debug port on PCB

I found a debug port on a device of mine and I was wondering if anyone new anything about it as I can’t find anything myself. I’ll post a picture if needed but it’d a 6 pin in line and the 1st and 5th pad are bigger then the rest. I’m not new to using jtag and stuff but I haven’t seen this port before so I’m looking for assistance identifying it and getting a pinout before I mess it up.

Hacking setups?

What is your hacking setup? Right now I’m running a proxmox server with a parrotos vm and Apache guacamole to RDP into the VM. Figure I can remote into it using a phone, tablet or PC. submitted by /u/Jester281986 [link] [comments]
