The four smuggled in by the drug lord in the 1970s are now more than 130. They’re devouring plant life, crowding out native animals, polluting water and threatening people.

The federal government says it’s looking to fund projects across the country that will help move goods, particularly in rural areas, and strengthen the country’s supply chain.
