Recommend new system

House is hardwired with an old Honeywell Monitronics system that I think may be locked to a local installer. Am I correct that the old Monitroncs systems aren’t compatible with the newer gear? Anyway to override any installer codes that I don’t have/they don’t know anymore? Are the Monitronics systems any good, or should I just replace it?

If we replace it, we want to keep the hardwired sensors and add some wireless smoke/flood/fire sensors (which is what we really want to monitor). There are two hardwired keypads, one upstairs in the master and one down in the entryway.

I looked into Quolsys because they seem VERY easy to program, but (1) you can’t hardwire them with the existing alarm wiring in the wall and need their ugly power brick, and (2) they don’t offer auxiliary panels so that I could install a second non-touchscreen in the master. I also don’t want cameras inside my house… creeps me out.

What would be the cheapest, easiest solution? DSC PowerSeries Neo? Honeywell Vista 20P? I need to be able to install it and program it myself. The local alarm companies want to upgrade everything to one of the options above, but they require you to monitor with them and the prices are outrageous compared to GeoArm etc. so I’ve crossed that option off the list.
