So kinda unusual question, not sure it even fits here. We just bought a used 6660 as a new cable modem. However as we had to find out they have only 2 serial number (2910 and 2984) for open router use on any network, however we got the 2932 which is a previous rental device from the Provider that we cannot use for our network and can’t even use it as a regular AP over cable as the firmware is completely locked.

Now I’ve been wondering if we just gotta bite the bullet and lost 125€ on a piece of E-Waste or if there might be some alternative unlocked firmware floating around somewhere we could use to modify the box so we can log it into our providers network to use it
