Seeing Poor reviews on ADT… Who do we recommend?

I just moved from NYC to PA where I was supposed to feel safer. I just feel violated because we believe the previous owners have been on our property and stealing wood after. We don’t care about to wood but to know people have invaded our privacy- We don’t know when it was day or night, home or not. We have dogs and to think something may happen to them… it’s all just very unsettling. Now we’re feeling rushed to get a home security system and thought ADT was the way to go but to be locked in for 36 months AND reading such terrible things about them on this sub. I don’t know what to do anymore. Does anyone recommend which company IS worth our business? Unfortunately, we don’t know anyone in the area who could recommend anyone local. We’re in the Pocono area.

Simple, easy to use, wifi camera recommendations

Hello all. Currently have a Nest doorbell and had a slightly scary event over the weekend that freaked us out but turned out to just be some neighborhood kids messing around. Regardless, we want to improve our home security a bit.

We live in a pretty good neighborhood and city with low crime so we don’t need or want anything too intense. I had bought and installed the Google Nest Cam on a whim (before learning it was just kids messing around) but it was a bit pricey and I don’t like the Google Home app or how it is separate from the Nest app. I’m looking for 2-4 cameras with the following features:

  • Wireless (ideally rechargeable with good battery life but not only solar)
  • Decent picture quality
  • Decent night vision
  • Good person detection (we have a lot of rabbits/squirrels)
  • Good app (ideally able to schedule alerts or the camera itself to only work during certain hours or only at night)
  • Ideally $100 or less per camera but willing to go up to $150 if needed
  • Ideally no monthly service but depends on above factors

Happy to answer any other questions as well – thank you!
