I left around 8 am this morning and my front door was fine. Came home from work at 4:30 pm and had to pull forcefully to get door to open. The door is split down the side but the frame/jamb looks okay. No signs of entry inside. I have 2 dogs and a simplisafe security system. Simplisafe camera did detect motion at 3:00 pm but the video crapped out. Door entry sensors didn’t go off either.
Door does open & close now but with effort.
My apartment is old (1970s build) with a fair share of wear and tear. It’s not uncommon for things to break but, even if the door had been separating gradually over time, I somehow didn’t notice, and the “full split” happened when I shut the door to leave this morning, it seems implausible that this “full split” would be completely silent. Then again, wouldn’t the door frame also be damaged if someone tried to break in, not just the door?
