Before upgrading my phone, I had different sounds for different events. Now there’s just one “notification” sound for everything that’s not an alarm. Someone walked across my driveway and triggered the camera? Rang the doorbell? Left a window open? It’s all the same sound and not a single setting to differentiate them.
In particular, I really need a separate doorbell sound. The ADT Control and Alarm.com apps are already miserably unreliable about notifying me on time, but now I frequently miss the urgency of the “someone rang the doorbell 2 minutes ago but I’m only telling you now lol” notification because it blends in with all the other notifications, which for the record I do still want to receive (often I’ll know someone’s at my door because the camera notification is pretty reliable, haha).
I feel like I’m being gaslit or something, but surely the memories can’t be hallucinations of my own making. I know my old phone used to have this feature, but it’s long gone now so I can’t inspect what might not have transferred over. Why can’t I change the sound for the doorbell? Did my old phone have some other app installed that I just don’t remember? Neither ADT Control nor Alarm.com apps have that feature (they appear to be the same app with a different coat of paint, and only one non-alarm notification sound).
Please help. Google is useless. The app descriptions in the google store tell me nothing. No search result seems remotely relevant. It’s like I lived in an alternate universe and now I’ve been thrown into a worse one where apps are designed exclusively by only the underperforming monkeys.
I’m using an Android Galaxy S23. In case it matters, the doorbell is a Skybell but I don’t know what model etc — it’s just whatever garbage ADT pooped on customers who started service in late 2019.
