Our landlord/leasing agency recently updated our lease to include verbage that allows the owner to enter the rental at any time without notice. It is unfortunately legal, and they refuse to change the lease verbage to 24 hours notice. We’re about to have a baby, so home security in general is something we’ve been looking into. Still, we want to be able to monitor anytime someone goes in or out of the house, and not make it so easy for either the home owner or the leasing agency they work through to just enter the house without us knowing, while also keeping us and baby safer.

So, is there a decent, affordable system, that allows us to access the security system from our phones at a distance? I’ve looked into Simplisafe and Ring. I’m not a fan of the doorbell gadgets, as they look super easy to just pluck off and destroy. And because it’s a rental home, we probably can’t affix anything permanent to the exterior structure of the house.
