So I accidentally set off my smoke detector today, immediately disarmed the security panel within 10 seconds, and then the fire department was still called (two trucks!!) to my place without my knowledge. I felt like an idiot having to tell these firemen what happened.

How can I avoid this in the future? Is there a way I can make ADT at least give me a call before they send fitre trucks? I tried to search online but their website wasn’t helpful.

Edit: for context I rent and I was not aware that the security system did this. I do have access to the backend of the ADT system bc my landlord gave me the login.
