I’m new to using john-the-ripper. I understand the single and wordlist mode and have had success cracking with those, however I can’t seem to figure out incremental. I ran the command below and it appears to just be jumping around with no pattern. What am I missing?

./john –incremental –min-length=1 –max-length=8 ~/Downloads/hash.txt Warning: detected hash type “RAR5”, but the string is also recognized as “RAR5-opencl”
