Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a house (in studs now) and the house comes with a Qolsys panel. The low voltage and security vendor we are working with is recommending alarm.com compatible systems. I don’t feel like they are “salesy”. So far, they have instructed me to go with PoE camera routes and place the wiring in advance for a alarm.com smoke and fire detector.
What I like about alarm.com system?
- ML detection of human, car, pet etc.
- IFTTT like behavior and customization
- Z-wave integration in hub for scenes like leaving the house and bedtime
What is the perception of alarm.com on the subreddit and the market? Will I be screwed with vendor lock in? Can I take the ecosystem to the next house?
I know I want to have a vetted and monitored solution rather than a DIY like Ring or Simplisafe. It’s my first house build from scratch so I am doing all the research I can to set myself up. Thanks in advance for all your advice and help.
