Looking to replace Vivint

Got the Vivint system shortly after moving in to our first house. We have very young kids so we wanted them to be as safe as possible. But, lately it just seems like we’re paying for nothing. The one and only time we had police response it was when we weren’t home and one of the door sensors said it was open. With my family not being home we thought surely there must be someone in the house. We thought that the police were coming directly, but per NV law a security officer is sent first to do a sweep. When he didn’t find anything we were hit with a bill for a false call. Got home, none of the doors are open. The sensor just crapped itself for some reason. Since then, we’ve had a few instances where the system says it’s ready to arm with the front door wide open. But regardless, we haven’t needed them to monitor anything. It’s easier for me to just call the police myself.

At this point I’m leaning toward getting something that is self monitored. The nice thing about vivint is the connection it has separate from wifi, so if my internet goes down it still works.

The only real things I would need would be a doorbell cam, some door sensors, and maybe some outside cams. I keep seeing everyone talk about alarm.com but are they self-monitored? What do you guys suggest? Thanks!
