EBike Motor Controller

Apologies if this isn’t the right place, but I wanted to run some thoughts by y’all. I was tinkering with my ebike, a Jetson Haze to be specific and noticed that the motor controller has exposed RX and TX pins, it doesn’t look like it’s transmitting anything though as the TX pin is just held at 5V during boot up and afterwards.

I have an FTDI board and I tried connecting to Teraterm with no results, which isn’t surprising as like I said it doesn’t even seem to be transmitting.

Would it be worth taking it apart to investigate further? The MOSFETs are all clipped to the heat sink which I assume is stopping the PCB from sliding out of the heat sink. If I fuck with it too much ill probably just end up damaging something or adversely affecting the heat dissipation.

Not sure how feasible hacking the thing really is, but I was bored and went down the rabbit hole. Not sure what I’d even expect to be able to do… I’m not too familiar with firmware but I’m decent with electronics. Seems like it might be throttled back tho so I wonder if the max current output is turned down a bit on the controller.

How could I test the power being output to the brushless DC motor?

Any thoughts or insights are welcome!
