Our home was broken into, need tips for securing gates and home
Our home was broken into last week and it’s been a nightmare since then. We both don’t feel safe anymore and sleep terribly. I hate being violated like this and despite losing a lot of valuables, the most precious thing we lost is the peace of mind and feeling of safety.
We live in the city and have a 6ft chain link fence with privacy slats surrounding the back of our house and yard.
They cut my chain I had on both the side gate and our back gate and broke in through a window.
What is the safest way I can lock these gates? I’ve been looking at bike locks but not sure what to do. For now I just have the heaviest duty chain I could find at a home improvement store and have it locked with a master lock.
We got cameras just waiting for an electric company to install them outside. Also have a ring doorbell now and inside camera.
What more can I do to secure our home and feel safe again?
I want to get window security bars but they are ugly and my girlfriend is opposed to it. What more can I do to feel safe?
