Vertical Green/Red Bar on CCTV Camera

Hi All,

I just installed a set of 4 Defender 4K cameras up on a privately owned utility pole on my rural property (yes I did confirm with the power company I could install cams on this pole).

The high voltage power lines from the street come down through this pole into metal conduit, and then go into the house. This was the only practical place for me to install these cameras, and overall I’m very pleased with the result.

Now the one problem being that 1 of the 4 cameras has a red/green/rainbow vertical bar that scrolls across the screen slowly, eventually disappearing and then reappearing on the opposite side of the screen about 10 seconds later. None of the other 3 cameras exhibit this behavior. This one cam also happens to be the closest to the metal conduit that the HV wire passes down through.

I knew going into it that electromagnetic interference may pose an issue, so perhaps that’s what’s causing the vertical scrolling? I thought I’d check with you all in case there are some easy things to troubleshoot.

I had to mount the cams high up on the pole to be out of reach of vandals, so unfortunately I cannot access the cams without renting a lift, as they are about 30′ in the air.

Overall, it’s nothing that I can’t live with…just a minor annoyance.

Also, it only seems to have the scrolling bar during the daytime, when it switches to infrared at night, the bar goes away.
