Hacking the Kiosk Part 3: it ain’t good!

Just me again!

Sadly I have ran into a roadblock with the kiosk.

I shoved my pipe inspection camera onto the chute but apparently the thing is completely hollow so the light doesn’t bounce off anything, I could just barely make out the connections on the back of the monitor, VGA, some vacant connection which I couldn’t identify and what may be Serial?. Annoyingly the app can’t save images (I didn’t check this).. so I took a photo with my phone camera instead from what I could see, but all it shows is the VGA connection (which doesn’t look plugged in but I won’t bother posting it)

Sadly that black DB9 connection could be where my adventures come to an end, as there’s no easy way of getting those connections out let alone converting them to USB easily.

Is DB9 ever used for Power?.

The chute does have a partial plate covering it held in with four screws, of course I really DON’T want to go that far.

I did enquire about it to everyone I could find in the building to perhaps open it for me and let me take a peek Inside. But nobody even knows who owns it anymore and thus nobody has the keys to it.

A lady who’s been working there for years did tell me to try emailing the travel part of the council as they aren’t based in the same building anymore.

Idk what my next plan is going to be for now. Physical cabinet penetration isn’t something I want to do even though screws are exposed on the underside of the keyboard and in the chute……

Maybe just give up….but it’s been an adventure for sure!
