Where is the best place to install Frigate on my setup?

I plan to soon get 4x Reolink 810A or 820A cameras (4k PoE), and maybe the doorbell too.

I would like to use Frigate as the NVR, and I plan to get a Coral. I would like to use Home Assistant to manage and view the cameras and object detection through that.

I have a few options on where to install Frigate as I like to split my hardware up a bit to prevent me messing with one thing taking down everything. Where would you put Frigate in this situation?:

  • On my Unraid server, which has all my primary storage. It’s running on an i5-8400 which is 6 cores and has 16GB RAM. It also does a lot of other things (30+ running docker containers, including Plex which uses hardware transcoding through QuickSync).
  • On my Home Assistant box, which is a Dell Optiplex mini PC with 8GBs RAM and an i3-6100. I would add additional external storage to this if I put Frigate here.
  • On a Pi4B. I have a 4GB one sitting around spare that could be a dedicated NVR, which allows me to mess with both my HA or Unraid boxes without fear of taking down my security cameras. I would again add external storage to this.
  • Something else?

All the above would be (if I can find one) used with a USB Coral.

Thanks!
