Kuna Camera Wall Plate – Do Not Buy, Endless Issues

I bought a Kuna Camera Wall Plate to replace a dead (my fault) Kuna Porch Light.

Positive: I found online coupons that got the price down to $80.

Negative: It wasn’t worth the price.

The camera never had a stable video feed, despite having full wifi strength via mesh network at the front door. It was constantly cutting and stuttering. It wasn’t an issue with the previous Kuna. AI detection was unreliable. multiple times live video feed was not available for over a week. Notifications started coming in batches of 20, and then stopped for over a week. Recently, the camera stopped recording or displaying video in color. Now as I write, live video has not been available since the 5th. I can hit “record” while attempting to see live video, and I can play that back – with no stuttering – but it will not display live.

I’ve emailed them to take the thing back, since it’s still in warranty. We’ll see if they honor it. I do not want a replacement as I see no reason why a replacement would be any better. Half the issues are with the cloud, and the other half I think are inherent to the product. It’s not fit for the intended purpose.

I’m going to try the Eufy S100 porch lights. Local storage of videos is a plus – no reliance on a cloud backend that could go away.
