I have a GE Interlogix Concord Ultra (part 60-960-95) that’s been acting strangely the past month. I think it was installed by the previous homeowner around 2003.
Issue:s
1) The keypad display shows wacky characters….dollar signs, Greek letters, etc.
2) A wireless window sensor would not stop going into supervisory mode or reporting that the window is open even though it isn’t. I changed the battery, but that didn’t help matters. Last night, I simply removed the sensor from the system via the programming menu since it reports the trouble condition loudly 3 times per day and it was driving us crazy.
3) After removing the problem window sensor, we got back to a “System Ok” status for a whole 12 hours…now it is saying that the backup battery is low. We just replaced it last year. Prior to that, I don’t even remember when the last time was that we needed to replace it.
4) Other windows sensors will randomly report problems then magically fix themselves within a few hours.
All of the above has us wondering if the sensors, battery, etc. are not really the problem. Do the Greek letters on the keypad display point to a larger problem that may be manifesting itself in these other off and on issues?
I am inclined just to go get a new battery to make it happy and try to restore peace in our house. But I worry that it will still complain after I get a new battery because there is another root cause.
Questions:
1) Any advice on how to approach the issues above?
2) For the Model 60-362 window sensors, does anyone know how those are typically installed and the best way to remove them? Is it 3M double-sided tape?
Thanks!
