I’m concerned that when I got the PC it already had a user setup, but even if it didn’t, there could have been tampering with from a simple key lager installation that sends all the data to another adversary…

To any other crafty back door that can give full access…

I’d like to take all reasonable precautions I can to make sure they’re PC is as clean as possible

I see there is a way to reset the windows operating system and I am doing that now but it’s not doing that from a cloud image but a local recovery. I’m wondering if that’s enough?

I know that are very crafty adversary could alter just one executable to be restored that essentially opens up a back door like a Trojan… That was anyone know if Windows performs hashtags for integrity of system files that it’s restoring? To avoid this type of an attack?

I did not have an option as they usually does to choose to pull a cloud image of the operating system for reimaging and that’s a bit concerning not sure why.

But once I initiated the reinstall when the system was being set up, it gave the option to download the newest Windows feature update and I’m doing that now. It says it’s about 4 gigabytes

But that would be quite a sophisticated attack what do you think are the chances of that being the case?

I guess I better pull a recovery from the cloud or use a USB recovery if I really want to be sure…
