PIR sensor keeps triggering

I have a PIR sensor that keeps triggering for no reason. I don’t have pets and no one else is moving around in the house. I have some ceiling fans running and a floor fan to circulate. I thought that might be triggering it although I know that kind of temperature change doesn’t fit the profile the PIR is looking for. Even so I turned off all the fans and the AC unit with no change in behavior. If I point it into the main part of the living room it seems to trigger constantly. If I move it to a confined area it stops triggering, but will trigger when you approach it. So I know the sensor probably works.

Are there some non-obvious conditions I’m not seeing? I don’t have it positioned near any heat sources even though something like a radiator or heater should not trigger anyway because (it think) PIR detect temp changes, not constant sources.

I have several of these in place w/out any issues (bathroom, garage, laundry room). All they do is power some small LEDs to gently illuminate areas at night so you don’t have to turn the light on to see. But this one in the hallway is killing me!

I’ve located this unit at the ceiling, then midway up the wall and even on the floor.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
