I’m planning out camera system for my home. I tried put Ring system, and I think I want to stay away from all wifi system. I run pfsense, unifi wifi, truenas, and a couple of servers for various things, so logically Blue Iris would make sense except I’m not sure if it’s user friendly enough for my wife and kids.

I like what I see in Synology and Unifi Protect system. Though it doesn’t make sense for me to drop a grand on a Synology NAS when I already have a perfectly capable one. Unifi NVR is reasonably priced but not their cameras.

Reolink, Lorex, and the likes have NVRs with app access, but they don’t seem to be better than what Blue Iris would offer.

Am I overlooking any options? I’m leaning toward Unifi Protect, but the prices of their cameras is a hard pill to swallow. Thanks for any suggestions.
