Home camera setup without third party account etc

Apologies if this is answered somewhere else. But I couldn’t find anything. I’m wanting to set up internal (and external) camera’s for security and to keep and eye on the dog etc.

My issue is I cant find anything where it dosnt require some subscription or account with a third party to make it work. I know there is open source software for managing cameras etc but most cameras that are recommended seem to be from brands with issues in the past and or one that lock you into there apps.

is there like a big name that has a NVR/DVR that can use multiple camera’s and allows for DIY etc.
