[US, Oklahoma] Looking for a replacement full service alarm company.
Looking for a home and commercial option, want to switch everything.
Current provides;
- Cellular, internet or landline monitoring (need cellular monitoring at minimum but combo is better)
- Professional monitoring like anything happens will call you and then the police if they can’t get in touch. (must have)
- Professional installation and repairs, sure it’s like $100+ a pop but whatever’s wrong they can fix or replace it. (must have)
Want to keep all the same functionality but add;
- App that isn’t slow as molasses.
- System that will either refuse to set in event of a troubled zone or will at minimum notify HEY ALARM IS SET BUT THE BACK DOOR ISN’T SHUT, HOPE YOU LIKE GETTING PHONE CALLS ABOUT BIRDS SETTING OFF THE MOTION DETECTORS AT 3AM.
- Notification if alarm isn’t set by certain time.
We have been with a semi-local alarm company for decades and it’s been good up until we started using their app to manage the alarm systems.
The app is obnoxiously slow, it’s been ~3 years and it’s STILL obnoxiously slow, it doesn’t matter what phone you have, then to use the app required upgrading to a newer alarm system which was a downgrade as it’s way less forgiving than older systems (you fat finger the code by accident? It’s going to beep and ignore the correct code until the alarm goes off. You have hearing loss? It’s going to beep to let you know that the alarm is about to go off in a tone you can’t hear. Oh you forgot to shut a door? Alarm sets anyway after a short delay, even with the app, no way to get a notification that alarm has been set with a troubled/bypassed zone.
Weirdly the older systems these replaced had none of these problems. You could enter in the code and if you messed up you could try again. It was a loud tone letting you know the alarm was active. You couldn’t set the alarm without all zones being clear without having to manually go in and bypass the zone.
I’m expecting like $30-$50/mo per system is that reasonable? Or does what I’m looking for even exist at this point?
