Hi all,
I am moving to a house in a “not so great” neighborhood so I’d like to have a reliable alarm system. I’ve been looking up tons of posts on reddit and searching brands so I would love some feedback before spending so much money on this.
Ideally, the system would have redundancy in comms (RJ45+SIM), would be reliable and wouldn’t depend on an external server. My current plan would include 4 PIR and 6 “door opening” sensors to cover the entire house (about 200 sqft). The system has to be distributed and complying with french radio regulations (where i’m based). I’d like to keep the budget under 1k but i’m not sure it’s feasible when looking up the prices.
First, i’ve looked up home assistant + alarmo. Except there is no redundancy, I haven’t seen a lot of feedback on good Zigbee alarms and It relies on my ability to program it well witch I highly doubt.
Adobe, elk and some other are not well distributed here.
Risco and honeywell requires subscription, paradox needs hex programming, haven’t seen clear bundles with optex systems, and bosh or DSC seem to be very pricey.
All in all, i’m thinking in going for an Ajax system, the setup seem clear and there is some redundancy. However It does require and external server to run (but it’s free for now) and with all the sensors i’m ending up at around 1400 euros.
So what would you do ? Is there another brand I haven’t heard about yet ?
Thanks everyone.
