TL/DR: Rant about non proprietary systems being shutdown and a call for recommendations below the rant.
Rant, warranted or not:
I purchased a house about a month ago and have posted in this sub a few times since for recommendations. I inherited a Vivint system with a couple cameras with my house. I got conned into paying the $100 activation fee but quickly canceled the service during the 72hr trial period. Per the contract, I am entitled to get my money back after 10 business days. Its been a whole month and after numerous calls, they have finally terminated my service but said I would not get my money back since the panel was monitored for a month.
By doing this I have lost access to the app, which I knew would happen per the contract, however the contract doesn’t mention that I no longer have access to my google home, my home assistant zwave dongle and my smart lock. Even at the panel. I’ve lost all zwave capability when it comes to the Vivint system. I can no longer use google, home assistant or the PANEL ITSELF to toggle my zwave lock, arm my system, use any smart lights, or my thermostat.
I don’t really care about app functionality but I do care about the money and Vivint blocking my own devices from functioning. They can disable their proprietary service like their app/monitoring but they have no right to disable my devices.
Recommendation request:
Now that my rant is out of the way, anyone have an alarm system that has a panel, zwave functionality, works with Hassio/google, and no monthly sub? Don’t really care about monitoring but would like either an app or some remote access.
