Are alarm signs potentially a bad idea?

I have always had this thought that advertising which alarm system you have is providing too much valuable information to burglars. They may know about weaknesses each alarm has and take advantage of that that. For example, for the longest time Ring did not have glass break sensors (they do now) and advertising a Ring alarm was an invitation to break glass. Can knowing which alarm you have be used against you?

Do alarm signs even act a deterrent? If not then there’s really no need to use them in the first place. If they do act as a deterrent, would they be less effective if a generic alarm sign was used rather than one that tells burglars you are using ADT/Ring/etc?
