Hey all.

Preface to say that I am a complete beginner in this world, but my curiosity is getting the best of me and i’d like to learn a little bit of ethical hacking.

Reading the sticky, i’d prefer to go the route of learning things from scratch and not using pre-made tools that do all of the work for you. My question is, is CTF the way to start down this road being I know absolutely zero about hacking? Should I scope out courses somewhere to get a foundational understanding first or just dive right into CTF?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
