For more details, I am soon moving into a ranch style single story house. It’s a pretty quiet residential neighborhood in an okay area, but it will be my first time living outside of my parents house without being in a walk-up apartment. My spouse works from home but often can’t answer the door due to the nature of his job, so I would like the extra security and to be able to handle any deliveries.
The new place has two doors, a front door and a door on the side of the house that goes from the driveway into my kitchen. Ideally, I would like something like a Ring camera for both, where it has both a doorbell function and a talk to the person at the door from your phone function. We also have a shed in the backyard, which I would like to have a camera watch to make sure no one gets into it (we do plan to keep it locked up, but I’ll feel better with it watched). The shed cam doesn’t need to do anything more than watch and be able to be checked from my phone.
As we’re renting, we are trying to steer clear of any hardwired mounts, since it’s a permanent alteration and could damage the house or be more difficult than we feel comfortable doing ourselves. Battery powered devices are also preferred since we’re trying to avoid hardwiring.
Our budget is about $100 per camera/device, and we’d probably be buying them one at a time in the first couple of months rather than in one large purchase to set up all at once.
Thank you in advance for your opinions and advice!
