Car jackers are running rampant in my area and they are getting smarter everyday. Last time a vehicle was stolen from the complex, they were somehow able to literally disable my neighbors ring camera which works over wifi. As a countermeasure, I am trying to set up my own wired camera solution. I just do not know which software to use. I want something that I can just hook a webcam up to and record video to local storage with. Ideally something that also doesn’t use a browser interface at all. I want to find a program that works entirely offline so the only way it could possibly get disabled is if someone completely shuts off our power at the meter. Any recommendations are highly appreciated. Motion detection and recording scheduling would be a serious bonus. I am running on Windows but am not opposed to using a Debian based Linux distro if there is a better solution available.
