There has been an unusual spike in the website traffic. Many times the number of visits we normal receive, and all of them appear to be entering very strange search terms. The terms are not something a person would search for. They are long strings of text and what appears to be excerpts from the website source code. Our orders also have declined during this time, but visiting the site myself I do not see anything unusual about the interface or how the site works.
To me it seems to be some sort of bot. I dont know if its a DDoS attempt, or if there is some other goal. I’m not familiar enough with this sort of thing to ascertain why someone would want to flood the website with weird search terms.
Can anyone give me some insight into what might be going on with this?
