We just replaced our Concorde 4 with the Qolsys IQ4 Hub (not the panel with the camera) and I’m extremely pleased. We were able to keep our hardwired sensors and add on some smoke/flood sensors (which is the primary reason I wanted a security system…).
The old Concorde had 2 keypads (one by backdoor and one upstairs). I took both off and there is a 1 gang electrical box into which the wire was fed. Not easy to patch or fix…
I was going to mount the IQ4 by the backdoor to cover the hole, but I am having a helluva time fishing the wire. The ole alarm keypad box is above a light switch, and there is a receptacle below that. Theoretically it should be easy, but being an exterior wall, it is heavily insulated, and there are already wires for 2 light switches and the outlets running through the wall. Is there an easier way to do this that I am missing, or should I just cover that box with a blank panel and put the Qolsys Hub on a table by the front door?
