New System Install – Doorbell + 1x WIFI Cam + 2x IPOE Cams
I just purchase a home and would appreciate insight on a quality monitoring system. The home came with a 1st generation Ring doorbell at the front door, an electrical box with 110V power above the doorbell (in addition to the porchlight), an electrical box with an IPOE wire at the backdoor, and an electrical box with a 2nd IPOE wire along the rear facade of the house.
I’d like a full solution from 1 brand if possible, but am open to mixing/matching as needed.
My wife is terrified of Alexas, Google Homes, etc, so we have almost no “smart” devices in our home, simply a wifi router.
Doorbell Wants/Needs:
-
Good quality camera (2k+)
-
Adjustable sensitivity
-
Ability to set zones
Despite being hardwired, the Ring doorbell has to be taken down and charged about every 2 months which I’d prefer not to have to. When I say “hardwired”, I mean there’s a doorbell transformer in a closet marked as 24V / 40VA which runs to the doorbell (no hardwired chime). I recently purchased a Eufy hardwired doorbell but plan to return it for the following reasons: 1) it was advertised as 24/7 monitoring which it doesn’t seem capable of doing, 2) the sensitivity is way too low, it barely triggers unless someone is right in front of it, and 3) reading the security issues with Eufy destroys my confidence in the brand.
What I’ve looked at: https://reolink.com/product/reolink-video-doorbell/#specifications I think my situation qualified under the “hardwired” power needs of “12-24VAC 50/60Hz”
Front Wifi Camera Wants/Needs:
-
High quality camera (4k+)
-
High quality night vision
-
24/7 monitoring
-
Hoping to minimize any slowing to Wifi network caused by camera
I’m hoping that maybe any shortcomings that doorbell has can be made up by this camera. I had a moving truck hit my vehicle in front of my house but the doorbell only caught before/after the accident, it would have been nice to go back to 24/7 recordings.

Rear IPOE Cameras Wants/Needs:
-
High quality camera (4k+)
-
High quality night vision
-
24/7 monitoring
I know I will need additional equipment and would appreciate any insight into best equipment. I’ve read plenty of guides about buying an older office PC from Ebay, but much of it was over my head so any tips on what to look for are great! I’m also aware of Blue Iris, etc, but I’d be happy to pay for a company’s software to match their cameras if a package is available. Both IPOE cameras boxes are hardwired to the same closet as the doorbell transformer which also has a hardwired ethernet port directly from the router.
What I’ve looked at: Camera: https://reolink.com/product/rlc-811a/ PoE NVR: https://reolink.com/product/rln8-410/
I’ve seen Reolink referenced many times and it seems like they might have everything I need all in 1 brand, I’m just a little lost when I start filling my shopping cart. This is also super petty, but I’d prefer all black cameras to white cameras for aesthetics, Reolink doesn’t appear to offer colors other than white. Not a deal-breaker, just a consideration.
Thanks in advance for reading through this and any info you might offer, if there are any other important details please let me know.
