The Ontario Superior Court of Justice sided with eight families in their lawsuit against Iran that argued the defendants were responsible for an act of terrorism.
An Iranian court sentenced an air defense commander allegedly responsible for the downing to 13 years imprisonment, according to the country’s official judiciary news outlet.
‘When you’re a protester in Iran, when you leave your home, you don’t know if you’re coming back. Really, this is the least that we can do in a free country,’ a protester said.
According to Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, from Norway-based NGO Iran Human Rights, in the past three and half months, Iran has executed 267 people.
