If there are two things every modern Muslim agrees on, it’s that you can’t eat pork and you can’t drink alcohol. But, if the historical records are to be believed, the early “Muslims” thought very differently about at least one of those. The more we learn about early Islam, the more we learn it wasn’t Islam (in the modern sense) at all. Everyone and every religion seems to have an opinion about Jesus. Many say he was a wise teacher. Muslims say he was a mighty prophet, but definitely nothing more. And Christians say he is the 2nd person of the Trinity, God almighty himself become incarnate? But what did the his earliest followers say?
