I’ve recently found myself in need of a good home security camera setup, and it seems all but impossible to find something truly wireless that records 24 hours a day. Everything is motion-activated, which will not work for my use case.

Some details:

• Briefly, I have a neighbor whose dogs bark quite loudly in the early mornings and late evenings. I don’t have a clear line of sight to their yard, so motion detection is useless. I need to capture timestamped audio of the problem to submit to the HOA (and potentially as evidence in a nuisance suit).

• I do not care about live monitoring (and in fact I’m pretty privacy-conscious, so I would consider it a bonus if the camera did NOT have internet access or require use of a phone app). This is just for evidentiary purposes, not safety. It’s no problem to go grab the camera, copy video of barking incidents to my computer, and put the camera back up.

• I don’t need weeks- or months-long battery life. If I have to bring the camera inside every few days to charge it, that’s fine.

• I can run a power cord if absolutely necessary, but I’d really rather not have to. It will look janky in the location where the camera needs to be, no matter how I try to do it.

I’ve been looking on my own for days, and I just can’t seem to find anything that’s right for my use case. Any suggestions?
