Hi. Alarm system novice here. We have an old home that came with a DSC Power832 / PC5010 setup. About 10 years ago, we had a wireless module added. Other than that, no changes made.

In 2021, I got a low battery trouble message. I bought a new battery and the message went away. Just came back from out of town and the message came back. I thought the battery would last longer.

In any case, I bought a new battery and plugged it in. The trouble message is still there. I reinserted the new battery. No change.

I unplugged the transformer. The panel showed AC loss. I plugged it back in. Still see the trouble alert.

Edit 1: I can’t seem to get the low battery message to reappear. Now, the trouble light is on. Then I see System Trouble *2 to view. I do that and I see View Trouble Communications. But no way to get any more info. From looking online, I wonder if this is related to my cell module being outdated. I got a notice telling me to upgrade the module because of a sunset of 3G service, but I thought it was optional. Not sure how to troubleshoot.

Edit 2: I disconnected the new battery. That prompted a service required low battery alert. I reconnected the new battery. Waited a bit, that error went away. Leaving only the View Trouble Communications error. Not sure what that means, but seems like low battery is not at issue now.

What do I try next?
