A friend of mine just bought a large home on 1.5 acres. It is part of a private drive that has about 5 other homes on it but she is the farthest from the remote controlled gate. Currently, she needs to walk out of her house, down about 100 yards before she can sometimes get the gate opener to open the gate for people coming to visit. The other owners of the properties have no problems opening the gate from remotes in their houses but are much closer to the gate than her. They do not want to invest any money on updating the gate.

Can you recommend anything that can be done to help her be able to open the gate from her house without having to walk down the road to the entrance? I do not know the type of opener that is currently in use but will find out tomorrow. I just know that the opener is at least 20 years old, has 6-10 remotes that work with it currently, and doesn’t have the range to pick up my friends remote from far away. She has changed the batteries on her remote already.
