I’ve been wanting to setup a few cameras around the house for a while and with some recent shady people apparently breaking in cars of neighbours, I think it’s time I do it.

I want to avoid going the cloud route, I don’t want to depend on a service provider so I want to host it myself. I’m already runner a home server with a few apps on it and I’d like to use this same server for storing the camera feed and even manage the cameras if possible.

What software and cameras can do that? Ideally the cameras would be powered by either an outlet or hardwired and be wireless otherwise and also need to be rated for outside (ideally down to -40C or so).

I did find some software that should work a few months ago (can’t remember the name now), but it was very hard to figure out which cameras can work with the software.
