Has anyone here been required by homeowners insurance to install a security system? I am being told new policies in my area require a central station burglar and fire alarm. It’s a fine area with a shitty reputation. If compelled to install a system, I want the bare minimum: just door sensors, smoke/fire detectors, and alarm monitoring. I also would like to have a smart lock that plays nicely with the home security system — either integrated or at the very least doesn’t interfere with it — since I rather like smart locks for convenience. I spoke with an upbeat and pleasant salesperson at Vivint, but after reading posts here I am not as sold. Is there a reliable and trustworthy company with a minimal system like what I’ve described? It doesn’t seem like any of the DIY products are going to meet the requirements.
