ADT dodging me and I don’t know what to do

I bought my first house a couple years ago and the first day a guy came in to set up my “smart home” stuff and he was also an ADT salesman. He spent damn near the whole day in my house and aggressively pressure me into signing a contract before he left. It’s obviously my fault in the end but I was so overwhelmed with house stuff and I had no idea what I was doing. The contract was obviously a really shitty one. Expensive and it was a 3 year contract.

They have been raising my monthly cost every few months (which what is even the point of a fucking contract at that point) and the small text says that I have to provide a written request to lower my price back down to original rate and If that doesn’t happen within a month I can get out of my contract. So I did all that and waited the month and now ADT is completely dodging my requests to cancel with them. I have called, emailed, and used the chat bot on multiple occasions and either nobody answers or I just get avoided completely. Last time I called I got transferred FIVE times before I just got put on hold indefinitely and eventually hung up. I have sent so many emails stating my request and concerns and nobody will answer. So I just cancelled my card until my card until someone gets back to me. Was this the right move or will that come back to bite me in the butt?

Is this ADT’s typical business model? To just pressure people then trap them forever into contracts?
