Belarus says it will welcome the Wagner mercenary group as part of what is believed to be a deal agreed after its short-lived mutiny in Russia last month.

It has set up a camp at an abandoned Soviet military base which could house thousands of Wagner fighters – should they choose to move to Belarus.
