Large Scale Project Feedback: NVR & approx. 48 cameras

Hello all,

I am working on a large residential project where we are building a total of 4 homes on a 40 acre lot.

The first home is large, 5500sq/ft (single story, non-rectangular with lots of inset areas) and the other 3 are identical smaller traditional rectangular homes (1200sq/ft ea). The large home is roughly 1200 feet away from the large home, and they will be networked via a wireless bridge rated for 1.5gb speed.

By my first estimation at the number of cameras, I’m arriving at 40-48 cameras. That’s approx. 24 for the big house, and 8/ea. for the 3 smaller homes.

For simplicity, I’d like to make them all the same (ie 4K/8MP outdoor IP67 dome cameras). I’ve had a good run with Amcrest. They are cheap, and work quite well based on my experience. Any other suggestions at under $100 USD/ea.?

I’ve been a long-time Blue Iris home user (8ch), but feel Blue Iris will require a very beefy server to reliably operate that many cameras, whereas I feel an NVR would be best suited. It may not have all of the features of BI, but its single-purpose HW, and probably will require less maintenance over time. They will be monitored remotely, so reliability is important. What do you think? Any recommendations for a 48ch capable NVR?

I can either run 2 NVR’s, each with 24 channels, one for the big house, and the other for the 3x smaller homes or a single 48ch NVR centralized. Any reason to do 2 NVRs vs. a single NVR? I can only think of one–the weak link being the wireless bridge. If this goes down, I loose access to the cameras/recordings. The tradeoff is needing to manage two NVRs.

Any other approaches you can think of or problems you can anticipate me having? Any feedback/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

Has anyone performed an ADC account transfer successfully?

I have an Alarm.com account with General Security, and looking to move to SuretyHome. I’m hoping to keep my ADC account (thinking I can retain some integrations like MyQ, and various family and phone logins).

Surety and AlarmGrid have webpages that discuss the option, mentioning an account transfer PIN.

Anyone have practical experience?

Thanks in advance!
