On a show that aired on Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas-Gaza) on January 27, 2023, Hamas TV host Raji Al-Hams saluted Khairy Alqam, the terrorist who earlier that night carried out the Jerusalem synagogue massacre that left seven Israelis dead. He said that Alqam brought “happiness and joy” to the Palestinians and that through him, Allah satisfied the Palestinians’ lust for revenge. Al-Hams added: “We salute and cherish you, oh hero, oh martyrdom-seeking mujahid!”

In an interview that was posted to the Lebanon On YouTube channel on January 10, 2023, Lebanese politician Ibrahim Murad, the President of the Universal Syriac Union Party, called for armed resistance against Hizbullah. He said that political methods will achieve nothing and that Hizbullah needs to be besieged in its own areas. Murad also said that the only solution to the situation in Lebanon would involve global powers coming in and implementing the U.N. resolutions, but that if this does not happen, the Lebanese people are “destined to emigrate or live under a dictatorship.” He elaborated that the global powers would only intervene if Lebanon had “a real opposition,” and that such a revolt would require the shedding of blood. In addition, he said that he is personally ready to take up arms if his honor is violated or if he is turned into a dhimmi because he is Christian. Moreover, he said that “traitors and collaborators, and the people who starved us, impoverished us, and killed our children and our relatives in the hospitals” should be hanged from electric poles or dragged behind cars. On January 16, 2023, Murad was taken in for questioning by Lebanon’s authorities for his remarks.

Turkish journalist Hamza Tekin said in a January 14, 2023 show on Russia Today TV that Turkey is ridding itself of its Western patronage and forming its own alliances. He said that this is why Greece is “allowed” to have Russian S-300 missile systems, while Turkey is not. He said that the U.S. will pay a “high price” for its conflict with Turkey and that Turkey will only accept Finland and Sweden into NATO if it gets something in return. Tekin also said that Turkey will reveal its manned and unmanned fighter jets this year and that it will no longer need American F-16 jets or the missiles and bombs that go with it.

In an interview posted on the BreakThrough News YouTube channel on December 7, 2022, PFLP plane hijacker Leila Khaled told American journalist Rania Khalek that resistance and armed struggle are the “duty” of the Palestinian people and the “mainstream” means of resistance. She said that the Palestinians cannot just pray to God for justice, but “we have to do it by ourselves.” When asked about accusations that she is a terrorist, she replied that Israel’s “occupation” is “the peak of terrorism” and that the Palestinians do not care if they are called terrorists.

On January 17, 2023, IRINN TV (Iran) aired a report about the Martyr Shafiee Exercise held by the IRGC Navy in the Persian Gulf near Iran’s Hormozgan and Bushehr provinces. The drill involved cruise missiles, combat drones, classified “smart unmanned underwater systems,” amphibious assaults, and more. The report also featured footage from the drill. In addition, IRGC Navy Commander Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said: “We are using new tactics and military equipment to combat the enemy beyond our region.”

American writer Ron Unz said in an interview aired on Channel 4 (Iran) on January 18, 2023, that “Holocaust worship,” which he said is also known as “Holocaustianity,” has replaced traditional religion in American society. Algerian researcher Said Djabelkhir said in a January 15, 2023 show on Sky News Arabia (UAE) that in its current state, Islamic heritage starkly contradicts modernity and human rights. He said that the school curricula produce extremist religious fanatics instead of instilling students with acceptance, tolerance, and coexistence. He also said that the concept of the “fatwa” should be abolished and that Islamic scholars should only provide Muslims with information, analysis, and opinions so that Muslims can choose their own opinions. He stated: “The Muslim masses need enlightenment.” In addition, Djabelkhir proposed that Islamic scholarship should get rid of some hadiths and revise some of the ancient jurisprudential Islamic reasoning. He added that students of shari’a should study comparative religion in an open-minded way, as well as various subjects from the humanities.
