I recently evicted a racoon from inside my basement. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to locate entry point. Most likely under my deck. Before I tear up deck boards, I thought I’d place a security cameras in basement.
I do not have a home security system but do have a mesh network. So, I am in need of advice on which camera system is best.
Featured I’d like are motion activated, night vision, ability to record and send live video/images to my phone/app, hard wired preferred but battery ok.
I prefer a stand alone setup as i do not want a whole home setup (doorbell cam, main hub, monthly fees for cloud storage Etc)
I do not want motion activated lights because i think it may scare critter b4 i can see entry. My apologies in advance for being a newb and unversed in lingo.

If you’re currently running Luxriot Evo Complimentary, I’ve just discovered that it’s no longer possible to re-install under the old license model of up to 9 cameras being free. You can download the past versions but the activation fails.
I’ve spoken to Luxriot about this and their response was that my only option was to pay up (my server recently failed completely, with total data loss). I’ve switched to Agent DVR but will give Blue Iris a go to see if it better meets my requirements. It’s a shame, because I really liked Luxriot but I have no way of knowing that I wouldn’t have similar issues with a paid version down the road. If you’re running the complimentary version, it’s probably worth looking at alternatives in case something happens that forces you to switch (assuming you’re not happy to pay up).

Hi all, my husband and I don’t know where to start with home security systems and there are so many options. We have a house in the suburbs of PHX with a newborn. An ADT salesman came to give us a proposal of $1200 to get started and then $53/mo moving forward. This includes police activation, smoke detector, shock sensor, Wireless Sensors bundle, command 7in touchscreen, and more, like 24/7 intrusion monitoring and voice control integration. A few friends have told us to just do ADT because ” everyone else is trying to be them,” but I’ve read so many posts on here that are against them. I grew up with Arlo, and I’m not sure if they are worth looking into to compare. Our next door neighbors use local company named Foresight, and I’m not sure if local the way to go?
If anyone has insight for us, that would be great. We’ve been here for 5 months now so we really need some sort of a system, especially since it’s just baby and me home all day everyday. Thank you so much.

Hello! Are there any recommendations for a cloud FTP service that the Reolink NVR can upload to? Looking for an immediate backup to the data in case the NVR is stolen during a break in. Thanks submitted by /u/Crrunk [link] [comments]
Hello all, I have an old Zmodo NVR (zm-ss7009d8-s). I want to access the cameras video feed locally to either use it in Home assistant or other program and be able to block the internet access of this old device (Vlan). Any ideas where to start? Thanks…
I’ve been using a Lorex/Flir NVR (from Costco) since 2016. The usability/app is horrible, and motion detection is unusable (triggers when the wind blows or cloud shadows pass by). On the plus side, I can (almost) always view all the live cameras remotely to see if anything is amiss. However, Lorex cannot be trusted to keep their systems usable over time–they’ll abandon support/bug-fixes quickly for a product.
I’m looking for an upgraded system and am willing to pay around twice as much as a Lorex system. I’d like 4K, a good remote app that allows searching, perhaps “smart” activity detection, so that the alerts are useful. I’ve already wired in a coax/power cable for the cameras, but I could feed POE if that’s going to be the future.
Any suggestions? TIA!

I was laying in bed with my wife when she woke me up at 3:30am. She said someone was ringing and knocking at the door. They did it again. My small dog barked and I got up and walked to a guest bedroom window that had an obstructed view of our front doo…
So, I was digging a flower bed along the side of my yard today. About 6 inches down I broke a line that looked like an ethernet cord running from the road to somewhere unknown around the house. I was wondering if the could be related to my home securit…
